Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee welcomed the slowdown in inflation in April, but said there was still room for further inflation to fall.

Inflation showed "an improvement from last time and was basically in line with our expectations, but still above the level seen in the second half of last year," Goolsbee said in an interview on Marketplace radio. "So there is still room for improvement."
Goolsbee, who has no policy vote this year, said the road to reducing inflation is bumpy and pointed out that housing inflation is a key indicator he is focusing on.
