Joshua Dean, another whistleblower for production safety and product quality problems at Boeing, died of a sudden illness on April 30 at the age of 45 after John Barnett was suspected of committing suicide in March.

His family announced that he was 45 years old.NftgamebattleroyaleDean died Tuesday morning of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection. Dean developed respiratory problems two weeks ago and was hospitalized with a severe bacterial infection, but soon fell into a critical state.

Dean was one of the first people by Spirit AeroSystems to discover potentially dangerous defects in the Boeing 737 Max jet. Spirit, a major supplier to Boeing, was spun off from Boeing aircraft manufacturers in 2005.

Dean filed a complaint with the Federal Aviation Administration after the sudden door explosion of the Boeing 737, alleging serious misconduct by Spirit as a senior quality manager on the Boeing 737 supply line.

Dean himself said in an interview that he had been fired by Spirit during the outage, and when he was re-hired by Spirit in May 2021, he found that Spirit had fired many of its most experienced mechanics and auditors.

He thought he was fired by the company because he found a hole in the fuselage by mistake. He added that Spirit had pressured employees not to report defects in order to get the plane out of the factory faster.

There was a saying in the American aviation industry: "if it wasn't for Boeing, I wouldn't go." But now Dennis Taj, chief spokesman for the United Pilots Association, said bluntly that "Boeing is like a problem child."

On March 9, Barnett, who worked at Boeing for 32 years and exposed the company's quality control problems, was found to have committed suicide at the age of 62. The coroner's office of Charleston County, South Carolina, said Barnett appeared to have died of "a self-inflicted gunshot wound." This claim raises questions. Nearly two months after the incident, the police have not yet concluded their investigation.

Barnett worked as a quality control manager at a Boeing 787 factory in North Charleston, South Carolina in 2010, retired for health reasons in 2017, and exposed Boeing production safety issues in 2019. He was supposed to be questioned on March 9 about his libel suit against Boeing, but failed to appear in court and was found dead in his car in the hotel parking lot. Before his death, Barnett said he had been "harassed, vilified and humiliated" because of his concerns about Boeing's quality control, according to documents released by his lawyer.
